WCA SWIM TEAM STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!

On the first day of the meet the ISC 4.0 composite Academic All-State swim team was announced. Jennifer Johnson was one of six senior students recognized for her academic excellence maintaining a 4.0 during all four years of high school.

The WCA boys team placed 11 out of 23 teams, the girls placed 12 out of 21 teams. The boys 200 yard Medley relay placed 7th (Cortland Reed, Phillip Soileau, Andy Cerna, and Jaxson Trosclair). Senior Jennifer Johnson secured first place in the 200 yard Individual Medley, with a personal best time of 2:10.25. This first place spot gives Jennifer All-State recognition. The girls 200-yard free style relay placed 8th (Jaime Leberteaux, Kate Johnson, Gabby Kelly, and Jennifer Johnson). Many young swimmers on our team swam their best times during the state races. Our school had a very good representation in most events at the meet. The experience of the competition and atmosphere have the students motivated to continue swimming during the school year. There has been rapid improvement during the season and the swimmers and coaches have been encouraged with the young team’s progress.
