Westminster Christian Academy Names a New Head of School

The Board of Directors of Westminster Christian Academy is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Richard Scott Davis as our new Head of School. Mr. Scott Davis will begin his term June 6, 2016, as Mrs. Brooks completes 28 years of service to Westminster. The Board’s unanimous decision to appoint Mr. Davis was based on the enthusiastic endorsements of the Search Committee and the Interviewing Task Force made up of a diverse cross-section of the Westminster community.

Mr. Davis brings 27 years of experience in education both at the PreK-12 and college level. His varied expertise ranges from the classroom to the boardroom and even onto the athletic field. He was most currently the National Director of Classical Schools Responsive Education Solutions. As National Director, he led a large team and network of schools managing headmasters, academic work, budgets, marketing, facilities and more.

“I count it an honor to be called upon to lead and minister to the families and staff at Westminster Christian Academy,” remarked Mr. Davis. “My family and I are looking forward to this new adventure. It will be hard work but well worth the investment.”

Mr. Scott Davis earned his Masters of Education at Texas Tech University in 1993, with courses in physiology, biomechanics, education and research, following his Bachelor of Science from Wayland Baptist University. Mr. Davis was named Regional Coach of the Year at the college level and was nominated for Teacher of the Year at the university level as well. Mr. Davis was bestowed the honor of Most Outstanding Alumnus from his high school in Iowa Park Texas. In athletics, he coached teams and individuals to national titles at the college level. In education, Mr. Davis led the largest rollout of real history study for elementary level students in the State of Texas.

"Westminster has been on solid ground for many years.  It has stood for excellence in every area and has been firmly rooted in Christ. Therefore, it is a privilege to come to Opelousas and Lafayette and to partner with families here to make what is already a fine institution, even better. I have children of my own and they will be attending Westminster. With their education and spiritual formation at stake, I take seriously the duties to which the Lord has called me for His purposes at Westminster Christian Academy."

Please join me in welcoming Mr. Davis' family as well - his wife Michelle, and their children, Daxton, Devin and Ellisyn. Daxton will be working as an intern for Summit Ministries in Manitou Springs, Colorado, where he will work with groups of students to strengthen their faith and champion a Biblical worldview. Devin will enter Westminster Christian Academy as a sophomore, and Ellisyn will join the middle school as an eighth grader.

Mr. Davis embodies everything we set out to find. He is a warm, passionate, educational leader of unquestionable integrity and experience who will inspire and lead Westminster into the next chapter of its exciting history. Mr. Davis is dedicated to excellence in every area, firmly rooted in Christ, and we are thrilled that the Lord has led him to us.

Sincerely,

Dr. Sonny Corley
WCA Board President
