WCA Opelousas Announces New Athletic Director

Coach Leon joined the WCA family two years ago as the head volleyball coach. Since then, he has built a successful volleyball program made up of student-athletes that are driven by their faith, academics, and teamwork. His wife, Tonya, assists him with the volleyball team and together they have become an invaluable part of Westminster and the community.

“I am honored and delighted to be appointed as Athletic Director at Westminster Christian Academy,” shared Coach Leon. “With this position, I feel a grave responsibility to uphold and further enhance the Westminster Athletic Program’s reputation for developing student-athletes possessing integrity, a strong belief system, and academic success; and I plan to work together with our coaching staff to ensure their success. It is important that our athletes not only prepare for a potential collegiate career but also be productive and invaluable citizens in society.”

Coach Leon is a motivator and offers the ability to lead his athletes to find confidence and discover their talents. This ability will carry over as he leads the coaches and athletic staff. Coach Leon is dedicated to creating a positive and competitive environment while staying true to the ultimate goals of developing responsibility, integrity, and perseverance in his players and coaches – qualities that line up with what WCA Athletics is all about.

His theme verse is 1 Timothy 4:8, “For while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.”

Coach Leon grew up in Bayou Vista, LA, graduating from Patterson High School. He then went on to graduate from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a Bachelor of Science from the College of Education. He currently lives in Cankton with his wife, Tonya.
