Dr. Meyer was born and raised in New Orleans and began her career in education 26 years ago. She is an advocate for integrating a Biblical worldview into all subjects to help students prepare for their futures. She believes students must not only learn the academic material as knowledge, but they must also learn to apply the material to situations within their lives for deeper, more effective understanding.
“For the past twenty-six years, the Lord has called me into education as a ministry as both a teacher and an administrator to instill and maintain a balance of Christianity, discipline, and academics among the students that He sends across my path. These students are our future leaders and decision makers. Educational leaders should all be challenged to provide the best possible learning experiences through maintaining these three quality characteristics in each of our children in Christian education,” Dr. Meyer commented.
Dr. Meyer’s university training began with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Writing with a minor in secondary education from Loyola University. That foundation ultimately led to her Master’s in Education from Indiana Wesleyan University and most recently her Doctorate in Education from Southeastern Louisiana University.
After many years in the classroom, Dr. Meyer moved into an administrative position, serving as the lower school principal at Northlake Christian School in Covington from 2011-2018. A few of her many accomplishments during that time include earning AdvancED accreditation, initiating and implementing a new interdisciplinary initiative which focused on science, technology, engineering, art, and math and being nominated as an Apple Distinguished School.
With a passion for teaching and learning, Dr. Meyer is the founder and operator of Lil’ BREWnette Education Services which provides services ranging from tutoring and public speaking to note-taking strategies and poetry writing workshops for students (kindergarten-college), parents, and teachers. Her love for equipping others with valuable educational resources permeates every aspect of her life.
When asked about welcoming Dr. Meyer to Westminster, Head of School Mr. Scott Davis remarked, “We are thrilled to have a person of the credential, experience, passion, and Christian commitment as Dr. Meyer. She brings a love for education, a love for students, and a love for Christ to Westminster.”
Dr. Meyer has one son, Mitchell, who is finishing up his last year of college and who still lives in New Orleans. Additionally, she has two fur babies - Belle and Beaux, both golden retrievers. She is looking forward to joining the Westminster family and moving to Acadiana.
