Technology
Those working in technology, under the Direction of Hoyt Whittington are excited about the many changes that have occurred at WCA recently. The newly created computer lab with its 36 new iMacs, and Office and Adobe software will prepare students to meet the technology needs of students as they enter college, In fact a recent discussion with a WCA alumnus that graduated in Computer Design indicated that the diverse computer classes being offered at WCA are exactly what employers are looking for on college resumes.
WCA has also initiated a 1-To-1 program giving every senior a laptop to use at home and in the classroom. The obvious advantages are that students can take notes and use school software, both at school and home.
For those unitiated to the Mac, you will be happy to know that all of the Office software and Adobe Software is virtually the same on a PC or a Mac.The intel based Mac has dual boot capacity so they are also able to run Windows, which is exactly what is being done at the Lafayette Campus. The Mac also has some exciting software not offered on a PC, such as Garage Band, iWeb, iMovie, iDVD and many others.
WCA recently purchased the Barracuda filter which has been very helpful in stopping computer activity not related to classroom work or the goals of a Christian education.
The technology department has many plans to expand its impact, our main though is our financial resources. We would welcome your input on how we can accomplish these goals.
