Digital Photography

(Prerequisites: Computer Literacy)
Each student is issued a digital camera (Cannon Powershot A630) for classroom use. Students in photography will learn how a digital camera works, and how to use the different features of their digital camera. They will be instructed in purchasing and caring for their camera. Once they have become familiar with the camera they will learn some of the essential photography terms and features including ISO, aperture and f/stop, shutter speed, focus, SLR etc. They will be taught on the proper use of iPhoto, Bridge and Photoshop and how to use this software in post picture editing. Emphasis will by made on using layers, saving in different formats and using special effects. Each student will also learn how to fix and digitally enhance their pictures. Some of the assigned photography projects will include: Natural Alphabets, Scripture Pictures, Night Photography, Best and Worst of Louisiana, Panning, Macro Shots, Emotional Portraits, Still Lifes, Panoramas, Black and White, Wildlife Photography, Macros, Panoramas, Montages and more.
