WESTMINSTER CHRISTIAN ACADEMY HONOR GRAD, MARCUS MALDONADO, RECEIVES HORATIO ALGER ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP
 
Opelousas, LA - May 24, 2016 - Marcus Maldonado is the first recipient in Westminster Christian Academy history to receive the Horatio Alger Association Scholarship. Marcus is one of five students across the nation to receive this award.
 
The Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans honors the Senior who has academic accomplishments, leadership potential, commitment to serve the community, desire to achieve and succeed in the American free enterprise system, and for exemplifying the American tradition of overcoming adversity and achieving success through hard work, determination, integrity and perseverance.
 
Since 1984, the Horatio Alger Association has awarded over $125 million in scholarships to over 22,000 students who represent 6,154 high schools throughout the country. The Association reaches out directly to our nation’s young people with a message of hope, opportunity, responsibility and perseverance. This $10,000 scholarship will aid Marcus as he begins Tulane University in the fall of 2016.
